... unless you have used (or produced yourself) many HOP 1.x parameter files -
in this case, I'd recommend to save the old HOP directory by renaming it (e.g. to HOP_OLD) before installing the new version into C:\HOP.

The reason is this: HOP 2.0 is not completely compatible with 1.x parameter files - especially positioning of Plankton (Gumowski/Mira) attractors will work different from HOP 1.x. Some of your old HOP parameter sets won't quite look as they should in 2.0, so save the complete old HOP directory by renaming it before installing the new version, so you can still use HOP 1.x.

Registered users: After installing HOP 2.0, go to the DOS prompt into the HOP directory and type HOP REGISTER. Enter your name and registration number to register the new version.
