While you can use HOP to generate those scientific-looking black-and-white attractor plots, HOP goes far beyond this by introducing a number of unique mathematical and graphical special effects. The multitude of different attractor shapes and their surprising real-time animation behaviour, enhanced by HOP's special effect sections, will make your computer screen explode with stunning colors, movements, and images unlike anything you've seen before.

HOP features

  • several dozen attractor formulas
  • several kinds of warping/distortion/transformation algorithms
  • animations based on successive formula values
  • various types of simple and complex pixels, lines, and backgrounds
  • 3-D like shadow effects
  • several types of colorscroll
  • reading, editing, and writing of Fractint color files
While HOP can improvise on its own without ever repeating, you can hand-tailor each of its image/effect parameters and save them either as GIF files (as can be seen in the gallery) or as collections of Fractint-like parameter sets.

HOP can be used as a screensaver for DOS, Windows, and OS/2 (you need an additional file if you want a screensaver for DOS). The screensaver can either improvise (never repeating), or playback collections of your own (or somebody else's) HOP creations.
